Why Not Us?

In 1992, a senior at Grambling state University, used his “refund check” to open a bookstore in downtown Grambling, aka "the village." And just like that, “Just 4 You" was born. 

In 1993, the bookstore's name was changed to “Black to the Basics.” And it's overriding mission would be to "educate to liberate."  And so it did, until it closed its doors in 1997.

In 2018, the original owner, along with Erykah Badu, reopened "Black to the Basics," in order to offer today's GSU student-entrepreneurs the same opportunity that Grambling gave them.
